IK Multimedia I-Rig Mic

Budding singers and vocalists can now rejoice as IK Multimedia (an international music software company) has announced its latest product called the iRig Mic, which is the first ever handheld condenser microphone.

Designed specifically for Apples iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, the iRig Mic can be used to record your songs on the fly, or if you prefer you could simply use the Mic to record speeches or instruments (the choice is yours).

The iRig Mic features a highly unidirectional condenser-electret microphone capsule that should on paper provide a quality recording experience in both close mic and long distance mic conditions. There’s also real-time monitoring with its dual mini-jack connector and a three-level gain switch to make quick adjustment for any sound pressure condition (soft speaking to loud playing).

iRig Mic also comes with VocaLive free, which you need to download from the App Store. This features five dedicated, real-time vocal effects for singers and vocalists including pitch correction, choir harmonizer, voice doubler, vocal morpher and de-esser, plus seven effects tailored to vocal processing (re-verb, EQ, compressor, delay, envelope filter, chorus and phaser) that may be combined on a 3-processor vocal rig chain.
